The Keep Greenville Beautiful Committee was established in 1991 by the City Council. Its primary purposes are to certify and maintain certification with the Keep America Beautiful System and to coordinate, promote, support, encourage and advance efforts of the community to improve quality of life as it relates to beautification, the reduction of litter, and recycling.

Projects of the committee include:
• Annual Clean Up Day: City Councilmen select chairmen for each ward and enlist volunteers to help pick up litter on a designated Saturday in April. Volunteers are given gloves, litter bags and assignments of areas to clean up. A secret committee selects winners whose names appear on a plaque hanging in City Hall.
• Yard of the Month: This committee selects outstanding yards in each ward during the months of May, June, July and August. Winners receive a Yard of the Month sign, and a photo of their yard will appear in the newspaper. In September, all winners put their signs back out for an overall display.
• Adopt-A-Spots: Individuals and organizations may adopt public "spots" all over the city. Adopters agree to plant, keep litter free and maintain their spots. Where possible, adopters are encouraged to plant large yellow trumpet daffodils to support the committee's efforts to make Greenville "The Daffodil City."
• Welcome to Greenville Signs: Brick entrance signs have been designed by local architect Tommy Mills. The committee works with the city to construct signs at each entrance on Hwy 1 and Hwy 82.
• Litterbug Reporting: If someone observes littering from a vehicle call 1-800-545-3764.
Report the license plate number, a brief description of the vehicle, location, date, and what they threw out. KMB will send a letter and a litter bag to the litterer.
