The mission of the Traffic officers is to save lives through traffic enforcement and education of the public. Responsibilities of the Traffic office include investigating and reporting accidents, following upon hit and runs, and strategic traffic enforcement throughout the city. The officers are highly-trained in advance traffic law, accident investigation and reconstruction, DUI. detection, and radar speed detection.

The goals and objectives of the Greenville Police Department’s Traffic Unit are to reduce the number and severity of traffic collisions in the City. This is done by working through a three-prong approach to the problem. These three areas involve education, accident investigation, and enforcement. The Traffic Unit consists of four patrol cars, and one Downtown Greenville Parking Enforcement Officer. The traffic Division handles traffic accidents, funeral and parade escorts as well as other traffic control issues.
Illegal Contraband Enforcement Unit (ICE)

The ICE Unit officers conduct traffic stops on vehicles looking for illegal contraband that is being transported through the city of Greenville. This Unit is responsible for numerous seizures of illegal narcotics, weapons, and Drug funds. The officers have recovered several stolen vehicle and arrested fugitives wanted for various crimes. They also assist stranded motorist and help ensure the safety of motorist.

The K-9 Unit actively works as a vital part of the Illegal Contraband Enforcement Unit (I.C.E. Unit) and the Special Operations Unit. (G-UNIT).
