Gifted Program Criteria

GPS strives to educate all children in the community from the most gifted to those with special educational needs. The Greenville Public School District’s commitment to excellence is demonstrated by the various programs offered in all schools. Those programs include the gifted and challenge curriculum as well as advanced placement courses. The Greenville Public School District has computer labs throughout the system and in years past has been a leader in implementing the “Writing to Read” program for early childhood education.

The District continues its tradition of innovative programs through its use of uniforms in grades K-12, the Tech Prep Program and an Air Force ROTC program at the senior high school level. The Greenville Public School system holds the honor of having the State's first high school graduation, and the State’s first high school chemistry lab.

An additional indicator of the Greenville community's commitment to public education is the success of the "Adopt-A-School Program" organized by the Greenville Public School District. Many local businesses and civic organizations participate as partners in education with the city's public schools. Greenville also hosts the annual Regional Science Fair.
