We must shape the kind of community we want, and part of that job is done through the Planning Department. The objective of the Planning Department is to encourage planning that will assist the well-being of the public by improving the image of our community, enhancing the community’s opportunity for economic development and meeting the needs of the people and of society more effectively. The Planning Department is committed to promoting health, safety, morals, and the general welfare of the City.

The newly appointed 7-member Planning Commission discussed the following agenda items during the 06-07 Fiscal Year:

Also during the 2006-2007 fiscal year, the Planning Department issued 1,888 permits. This averages approximately 36 permits issued weekly. During the 2005-2006 fiscal year, the City issued 1,883 permits. There were 15 permits issued for new single family dwellings and 147 permits issued for demolition of structures.
